Experience
Donald T. Morton has been a licensed and practicing structural engineer for over 30 years and frequently serves as an expert witness and building code consultant. He is also licensed as an architect as well as a civil engineer, and holds both an A and B licenses as a contractor.
Mr. Morton is the former Chief Building Official for the City of Santa Rosa, where he enforced and made interpretation of the provisions of existing building ordinances, and wrote new building code provisions. During his tenure as Chief Building Official, he pioneered a seismic rehabilitation ordinance that was the most comprehensive in the state.
Mr. Morton has served as President and Chief Structural Engineer of three Engineering firms. As a principal, he was responsible for the design, plan checking, and inspection of thousands of buildings. Other areas of Mr. Morton's expertise include fire and life safety, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) audits, and energy conservation.A former engineer for Cal Trans, Mr. Morton is also considered to be an expert in the area of bridge design and construction. He has designed over 50 bridges and has been responsible for the construction management and inspection of more than 40 bridges.
